Biography
The Depths We Explored is a cinematic post-rock band created by Dante Oliva in Copenhagen (Denmark) in 2023.
The first vinyl album, DESERT, has been released on December 2025, by Fiat Lux Records. Live shows have started from January 2026.
Next big upcoming show is on 12 September 2026 at LOPPEN. Both lyrics and music are deeply inspired by religious books, esotericism, mythology and the tradition of sacred music in its different variants.
The Depths We Explored makes long length tracks in a dynamic style from which introspective atmospheres can be evoked. The scope of musical influences is wide, but some relevant ones might be: early Pink Floyd, early King Crimson, early Genesis, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Sigur Rós, Mogwai, Paradise Lost, pg.lost, Oh Hiroshima, MONO, Cocteau Twins, Claude Debussy, Erik Satie. The band has also been influenced by poets as Vallejo, Rimbaud, Baudelaire, and some film directors with surrealistic hints as Herzog, Fellini or Tarkovsky. The Depths We Explored's name is inspired by the Book of Job, chapter 38: “Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? Or hast thou walked in the search of the depth? Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? Or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death? Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? Declare if thou knowest it all.”
